Yurrugar All Hallows Eve at Lecarne "Hallow" got himself a nice final 6 placement from 20 lovely baby puppies over the weekend. He is maturing into a very striking little dog. Very flashy with a wonderful personality.
Angus had a good weekend in Adelaide in very good competition. On Sunday AM, he won his class in group, and in the PM, he went one better and took a Best in Group 2nd against some top toys. We also received this beautiful artwork- of some of our 2025 team. What a stunning line up! And of course, Angus is front and centre.
Our perfect little lady Yurrugar Among The Stars added another Best Baby Puppy in Group ribbon to her collection over the weekend. She is such a little showgirl, and all at just 4 months of age. She will just get better and better as time goes on.
Fabulous Angus had his first shows in NSW over the weekend. He took 4/4 Best of Breed wins, in competition, as well as taking a Runner Up to Best in Group under Mr P Frost. Well done Rosemarie Forbes and this beautiful boy.
What a fantastic weekend at the Yarram and Warragul shows!
Even though we were only 40 minutes from home, we decided to make it a getaway with our wonderful extended family—the Standoff and Swayd teams. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, fun, and success after a hectic time at work. Our star Ch Yurrugar Another Legend, "Oscar" continued to impress, taking a highly competitive Runner-Up in Group under Glenda Goller. He is maturing into something truly special! The rising star Yurrugar All Hallows Eve at Lecarne, "Hallow", handled by co-owner and breeder Erin Trotter, had a dream weekend. After his Baby in Group win at Canberra Royal Group Show, he kept the momentum going: Baby Puppy Sweepstakes winner under Roni Oma Best Baby Puppy in Group BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW under Chris Woodrow! Another promising youngster, Yurrugar Among The Stars, "Pippa", a baby puppy bitch from a litter two weeks younger than Hallow, showed so much potential. She improved as the weekend went on, finishing with a lovely Best Baby Puppy in Group under Mrs. Valerie Hutton. Not to be outdone, Nicole's Ch Docdee Way O’Darkness, "Luna", took out a competitive Best Junior in Group under Roni Oma. A huge thank you to my mum, our extended family the Slavins, and Nicole for an unforgettable weekend. Also, immense gratitude to the hardworking show committees for putting on such well-run events. Proud Blackdog Ambassador. Until next time! We made the "quick" 6 hour drive to the Royal Canberra Show and came away with Best of Breed with Aust Ch Yurrugar Another Legend at both the Royal Show and the Group Specialty Show, as well as Best Baby Puppy in Show at the Group Specialty with young "Hallow" Yurrugar AllHallowsEve at Lecarne. Co-owned and bred by Erin Trotter. Thanks to judge Miss Breanne Lancey for the group show win, and Mr Hiroshi Tsuyaki (Japan) for the Royal Show wins. Professional photos to come.
Gorgeous Chloe and Nicole headed to the Sapphire Coast show today and took a nice Best Junior in Group win, as well as Best of Breed.
We meticulously planned three litters for early 2025, with the primary goal of breeding exceptional English Toy Terriers for ourselves. We aimed to enhance our show team with outstanding young dogs and secure future breeding prospects. Additionally, we intended to fulfill some international orders, making this a well-thought-out endeavor. Our first litter, born on February 5th, is thriving, and Yurrugar Cotton Candy "Bonnie" has proven to be an incredible mother. Our second litter is particularly exciting as it marks the first offspring of Aust Ch Yurrugar Another Legend and Ch A20 Ch Yurrugar Beyond Paradise. Arriving on February 13th, this litter of seven puppies is extraordinary, especially considering the large number for ETTs. All are healthy, and we anticipate some stunning show prospects among them.
Once again, our carefully planned and expertly managed breeding program has produced a litter of truly exceptional puppies. Their outstanding head shape and beautiful coloring already indicate top-tier quality, and we eagerly look forward to watching them grow and develop.
Miss Pipstar made a spectacular debut, winning Best Baby Puppy in Group! Despite the windy conditions, she shined in the ring. From the very beginning, I knew Pippa was something special—she’s an absolutely stunning little girl with incredible promise. She is also the younger full sister of the amazing Oscar (Ch Yurrugar Another Legend), and she’s already following in his legendary footsteps!
Thank you, Blackdog Pet Foods, for reaching out and giving us the opportunity to try your range! We truly appreciate the chance to explore your products and share them with our team. Our dogs are absolutely loving the Ocean Fish and Salmon – it’s been a big hit! Salmon is the #1 ingredient in this food and fish is always something we have fed for nutrition and great coat health! Keeps our dogs looking dark and shiny! Blackdog is Australian made and this particular food uses 100% Australian Salmon. We will now continue to feed Blackdog alongside raw foods, which our dogs love and thrive on.
We are excited to announce that frozen semen we collected and sent to Sweden in 2024 from our stunning boy "Kole", has resulted in a positive pregnancy, with 4 puppies born in February. Big congratulations to Disa Ohlander for making this huge leap, and investment, to better the breed on the other side of the world. A lot of work, time and effort goes into such international projects, and we are proud to be involved!
I really enjoyed the relaxed, country vibe at the Lang Lang Ag Soc Championship Show yesterday. It was a long and scorching day—far from ideal for a black dog! Despite the heat, Aust Ch Yurrugar Another Legend shined, earning Runner-Up Best in Group from the junior class. A huge thank you to judge Mr. T Powell for recognizing this cheeky yet beautifully typey young dog in such a competitive lineup. Another stunning shot by Kellie Jayne Photography! With the summer heat proving tough on the black dogs, we’ll be keeping our showing schedule light over the hotter months.
4 dogs with our prefix were shown in Australia in 2024, 1 of which was only at a handful of selected events with international judges. All 4 dogs took Best in Group/RUBIG wins, three were multiple winners. No ETT owned by us was beaten for a Best of Breed in 2024.
A20 Ch Aust Ch YURRUGAR BEYOND PARADISE 'Willow', an outstanding 2.5 year old female, was Australia's #1 English Toy Terrier (Black & Tan) for 2024, Yurrugar the top breeder (DOL Pointscore). Willows baby brother, Yurrugar All Hallows Eve at Lecarne, is now registered and will be in the ring soon. Rosemarie's A20, CACIB, Aust Grand Ch YURRUGAR BLACK TIE AFFAIR 'Angus', took the #2 spot, #1 in Tasmania. Aust Ch YRRUGAR ANOTHER LEGEND 'Oscar' was the #2 ETT in the state of Victoria behind Willow. Off the top of my head, some highlights for 2024 included Best of Breed at both Adelaide and Melbourne Royals with two different dogs, in competition. Best in Group under Bernard Ong (Singapore), RU BIG under Mabel Sy (Philippines), a Group 3rd under Benny Blidh von Schedvin (Sweden), Best Puppy in Show under Masaaki Amano (Japan), an all breeds RUBIS, 2 new A20 champions, a new CACIB title holder (both the first ETTs in Australia to hold these titles), a new Grand Champion, and that's just the tip of the iceberg really. Our small team won countless ribbons in 2024. We imported a new dog, we exported semen from a number of dogs, we've bred some very nice puppies in the latter part of the year. Lots of good things happened when you think about it. I will just say I'm not overly fussed on the DOL Pointscore. We show sporadically compared to others, I like to do lots of other things on weekends too! Quality, not quantity, and continued quiet dedication shines. Head down, bum up and row your own boat. You know how we are :) I will also add here, and this is VERY unlike me to do so, but it has come to my attention that I have been the target of harmful and defamatory posting from another breeder who has caused ongoing problems since we began. These false accusations and attempts to damage my/our reputation will not be tolerated. Anyone who truly knows us would recognise that these claims are utter rubbish. I want to make it clear that I am taking immediate legal action to address this matter, as well as engaging with the state governing body to ensure that appropriate steps are taken. Defamation is a serious offense, and I will do everything in my power to protect my name and integrity. Paige Dogs Victoria Summer Spectacular. Very late night! I got to bed at 1am! Ch A20 Ch Yurrugar Beyond Paradise 'Willow', Best of breed, short-listed for Best in Group and Best Intermediate in Group. Docdee Way O Darkness 'Luna', Best Puppy in Group and then on to BEST PUPPY in SHOW. Handled by her co-breeder Nicole Rowley. Thank you to judges Mrs J Luna-Liebes (USA) and Mr Masaaki Amano (Japan) for acknowledging these two lovely females. Yet again, our dogs are awarded by some of the most respected judges in the world. Something our line of dogs have a history of succeeding with! And thanks to Kellie Jayne Photography for these lovely photos, as always.
Participating in the local show this weekend was a pleasure. Entirely stress-free. Willow was foot perfect and showed her heart out for me, as always. Appreciation goes to Judge Mr. G Cruse for the well-deserved win in impressive company.
Lots happens day to day that have nothing to do with the show-ring. Anyone that knows me (Paige) closely knows that I do not really love doing shows all that much! I enjoy seeing the dogs do well, of course, but at heart my passion is producing top notch ETTs. There is always something to strive for and I am obsessed with quality and temperament, to produce the best for ourselves and our all our owners. We currently have a very beautiful litter in the whelping box, of which we will keep on for ourselves and offer the remaining puppies to those waiting. Our new male arrived from Japan in September and was out of quarantine and home with us in early October. "Sweep" (pictured below) is doing exceptionally well and we are looking forward to seeing what he produces for us. Our first plans will be to breed him to the very beautiful Australian Champion "Natasha" Yurrugar Black Widow. Sweeps temperament is absolutely incredible, a real testament to his breeder! This dog is our 11th international import, not including dogs imported via frozen semen only. We have imported more ETTs to Australia than any other kennel, which has raised the bar for the quality in this country.
Good weekend at the Adelaide Hills KC shows with international judges. Aust Gr Ch CIB Yurrugar Black Tie Affair, "Angus", was shortlisted for Best in Group under both Dr Jonathan Mesach (Indonesia) and Mr C Weng Woh (Malaysia) and was Best Australian Bred in Group under both judges. Professional photos to come.
We have not exhibited at the Royal Melbourne Show since 2019, but this year I was encouraged, by many of my close friends, to attend. In an entry of 14 under Sylvie Desserne (France), it was a Yurrugar clean sweep with Wyatt, Ch Yurrugar Cowboy Casanova, was Best of Breed, he was also the 2019 winner. He is sparingly shown, his last time out was in February where he was Best in Group under Bernard Ong (Singapore). He enjoyed his day and showed well, always handled by Nicole Rowley. Best bitch and Runner Up Best of Breed was my bestest girl Willow, Ch Yurrugar Beyond Paradise. Best Puppy of Breed, and also the reserve dog winner was Oscar Jack, Ch Yurrugar Another Legend. Handled for the Best Puppy run off by his buddy Emma-Lee Slavin. He performed well considering he was nearly not going to attend after ripping one of his front toe nails out on the Monday. Robert and I worked really hard to get him right for Friday! We had a very lovely day and thanks to everyone for their encouragement and continued support.
In addition to these wonderful wins at the RMS, "Angus" and Rosemarie competed in SA and took out Best of Breed and Best in Group 3rd! A wonderful weekend all round. It is official, the exquisite Aust Ch Yurrugar Beyond Paradise is now also an FCI A20 champion! Willow is Australia's first ETT female to gain this title, and the second ETT in Australia, with our outstanding boy Angus, Yurrugar Black Tie Affair, being the first!
MAFFRA INTERNATIONAL SHOWS - For Oscar "Yurrugar Another Legend" and myself, a Runner Up to Best in Group from the puppy class under Mrs M Sy (Philippines) and short listed for Best in Group and winning Best Puppy in Group under Mr G Whitfield (NZ). Also gained enough points to obtain his Australian Championship title. In South Australia, wonderful Willow, "Aust Ch Yurrugar Beyond Paradise", handled by Rosemarie, took a Best Exhibit in Group 4th under Mrs Janet McGregor (QLD). Also won a nice Best Intermediate in Show at the open show. The gorgeous little ETT, Docdee Way O Darkness took 4 x bitch CCs for her owner/breeder Nicole Rowley. Hard to get it over our Oscar for the time being, but she is very special. In our care whilst Nicole is off on her wonderful European holiday. All Yurrugar bred, daughter of Wyatt and Chloe. BARINSDALE SHOWS - Beautiful little Luna was the star for us at this one with an incredible Runner Up to Best in Group win and 2 x Best Minor Puppy in Group wins. ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOW - Willow took Best of Breed in a decent entry of ETTs.
Whilst we did fail to take pictures unfortunately, we are glad to report that beautiful little DocDee Way O Darkness, co bred and owned by ourselves and Dr. Nicole Rowley, had a nice Best Minor Puppy in Group win at the Lillydale Pot of Gold Show on Saturday the 10th of August under visiting judge from Canada. Oscar, Yurrugar Another Legend, took a nice Best of Breed in company.
Ch Yurrugar Beyond Paradise "Willow" had a good weekend in South Australia taking a Best in Group 4th and a Best Australian Bred in Group. Willow will shortly be back in Victoria, but from her holiday in SA, she has garnered 191 CC points, 2 BIG, 2 RUBIG, 2 A20 and 1 CIB. A wonderful achievement for this stunning girl!
Another weekend, another couple of very nice wins. Our dogs are continuously in the winners circle with Willow taking another Best Australian Bred in Group, along with being shortlisted for Best in Group, in SA, and Oscar winning another Best Puppy in Group here in Victoria. We have most certainly had a very consistent July.
Another Best Exhibit in Group win over the weekend, plus a short list for Best in Group, 3 x Best Australian Bred in Group and 1 x Best Australian Bred in Show for Willow. Although currently with Rosie doing some shows in SA, Willow will be back in Victoria very soon and we cannot wait to have her rejoin our very strong little team!
