2016 in review
It was a rather quiet year for us in the showring, with much fewer shows being attended this year by our team for various reasons. We had a HUGE 2015, and it was nice to sit back this year and relax a bit! This year saw a very special litter born, and those youngsters have had a wonderful start to their show careers with their co-owners. Next year the magnificent boy, Yurrugar V Lone Star Titanium, will be campaigned more heavily and we expect him to do extremely well in the hands of Shane Thomas. There are big plans for this fellow after his career here in Australia, and we are excited for his future. Our pretty much perfect Miss Lexi, Yurrugar Dream Come True, was still Australias #1 English Toy Terrier despite her light campaign this year. Lexi is an absolute delight to show and own and we are proud to have bred such an exceptional example of the breed. We also bred the #2 and #4 top ETT's for 2016! Esme, Swish and Snappy all headed overseas in 2016, and we still have "orders" for 7 more top Yurrugar English Toy Terriers to leave our shores also. Hopefully we can breed them for these patient people in 2017. We are so grateful that our dogs and breeding continue to be appreciated by judges and enthusiasts worldwide. Numerous awards were won in 2017, it is very hard to keep track of them all. In addition to the showring, we welcomed some wonderful new pet owners to the Yurrugar family. Without these people and their dedication to their outstanding "pets", we would not be able to continue doing what we do. These dogs bring so many people such pleasure, and in turn, it brings us immense joy. Paige and Jennie Saunders and Family.
DECEMBER
Pictured above and below is the very special Niko, "Yurrugar Wicked Witch OftheWest, and Jan Gibson-Smith.
Our latest export, Yurrugar Snapdragon, has arrived safe and sound in Japan. He is already very much loved by his new owner and has taken in all the sights and sounds of Tokyo!
Congratulations to Jan and Niko, Yurrugar Wicked Witch Ofthewest, for taking out Best Minor Puppy in Group at the Albany Championship Show on November 27th.
NOVEMBER
November started with our favourite shows of the year, Vic Women's and Sunbury. Ch Yurrugar Dream Come True, Lexi, was Best of Breed and then shortlisted for Best in Group under Mr Hoke (USA) at the Sunbury Canine Country Club championship show, Australia's biggest one day dog show. The day before she was Best of Breed and then Best Intermediate in Group under Mrs Peak (UK).
Was also lovely to receive some updated photos of Yurrugar Wicked Witch Ofthewest from Jan Gibson-Smith. Niko is nearing 6 months of age and is maturing beautifully. These photos are thanks to Jeni Sach,
October
Congratulations to the new owners of Aust Ch Yurrugar Keeping Secrets (AI) (exported Singapore). "Swish" had her first shows on the 23rd of October, taking 2 x Best of Breed and 2 x Best in Group 3rd wins! Onward and upward for Team Swishy! Back home in Australia, Yurrugar Wicked Witch Ofthewest , took yet another Best Baby Puppy in Group win with Jan over in the West!
We would not be happier with the homes we found for our three absolutely gorgeous little Bart/Kizzy baby boys. The first to fly the coop was "Hunter", and it has not taken him very long to settle into his new home in Sydney. Every single Yurrugar ETT is important to us, whether it be a show or companion. Seeing puppies go is always very (very!) hard for us and is the worst, yet best part of breeding. Knowing that our babies go to homes where they are loved so very much is extremely rewarding for us as breeders of this beautiful, special breed.
It is hard to keep up with the success of Jan and Niko over in the West! Another Best Baby Puppy in Group win, this time at the Fremantle Dog Club Championship Show on October 9th.
We are very proud of the recent accomplishments achieved by the younger members of the Yurrugar team. In the ACT, Nicole Rowley and Yurrugar Lioness Rampant (Annie), won BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW at the Toy Specialty, judged by Margaret Joyce. In WA, Jan and Yurrugar Wicked Witch Ofthewest (Niko) went BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW at their Toy Specialty, judged by H Takahashi from Japan. Very exciting wins for these sisters! In QLD, older puppy, Yurrugar V Lone Star Titanium (Derek), was shortlisted for Best in Group and then went on to take Best Minor Puppy in Group for Shane Thomas. The next generation of Yurrugar English Toy Terriers are proving to be exciting indeed! Finally, our beautiful advert (below right) came out in the latest edition of K9 Online. Also in this edition is a brief write up we did about our kennel. Head over to K9online.com.au to check it out.

Delighted to receive news that Multi Champion Yurrugar Next Top Model (exported Finland), and five of her progeny, won BEST IN SHOW PROGENY GROUP at the recent ETT Club of Finland Specialty Show! Congratulations to all involved.
September has proven to be a great, and very busy, month! The star over the recent weekend, 17th and 18th, was little Niko YURRUGAR WICKED WITCH OFTHEWEST. At the Geraldton (WA) Championship Show, she took Best Baby Puppy in Group on the first day, and then went one better the next with an awesome BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW WIN!
Pictured above is the exquisite little showgirl, Yurrugar Wicked Witch Ofthewest. Litter sister to our Lioness Rampant and Clash of Swords. Also litter sister to Relentless Pursuit (exported UK) and the darling little Mrs. Robinson.
Latest exports. September saw two beautiful Yurrugar ETTs leave Australian soil for amazing homes abroad. We are so happy to see Ch Yurrugar Keeping Secrets (AI) (Exp Singapore) looking so at home with her new owner Connie Yang. We cannot wait to see how Swish goes in the showring in Singapore! We already know that she has won the heart of everyone she has met over there so far! Our second export is the beautiful puppy, Yurrugar Relentless Pursuit, aka Esme. Esme is now in the hands of Lisa and Graeme Dixon in the UK. Litter sister to Wicked Witch Ofthewest, Clash of Swords, Mrs. Robinson and Lioness Rampant, Relentless Pursuit rounds out what is an amazing litter, one in which we will repeat in time.
September is often a busy month with the East Gippsland Shows and the Royal Melbourne Show. This year we only attended the first day of the East Gippsland KC Championship Show, taking our beautiful new baby, Yurrugar Clash of Swords, and Yurrugar Dream Come True. Lexi, DCT, was Best of Breed, then shortlisted for Best in Group and went on to win Best Intermediate in Group in a nice lineup. Benny was a little star for his first day out! He is an extremely promising dog and we look forward to continuing his show career. Over in WA, Niko, Yurrugar Wicked Witch OftheWest, also attended her very first show with new owner Jan Gibson-Smith. Sister to Benny, Niko is also so very promising! Thank you to Jeni Sach for the beautiful photos above of Niko! The stunning photo below by Diana Anderson.
August
We are excited to report that on August 10th, Bart and Kizzy had a beautiful litter of five. All are going well and have brilliant homes waiting for them! We were also delighted to receive such beautiful photos from the new owners of Yurrugar Mrs Robinson (Robinson Family) and Yurrugar Wicked Witch OftheWest (Jan Gibson-Smith). "Olivia" and "Niko" are from our May 2016 litter and both are much loved in their new homes.
We are exceedingly pleased with the consistent success of Yurrugar V Lone Star Titanium "Derek" and his owner/handlers Jacob Moore and Ross Thomas. Derek is taking Best Baby Puppy in Group time and time again in Far North Queensland, and considering how handsome this young man is, we are sure he will go on to do great things as an adult too! We are very proud of our first "Tex" baby!
July
Not much show news to report being that it is winter and we do not show very much during these chilly months! Days are best spent in front of the fireplace.
June
Huge congratulations goes to Niki Drage and her fabulous multi champion Yurrugar Green WithNV. They travelled from their home in NSW to the National Agility Championships in South Australia during the last week of May, and came away as MASTERS AGILITY 300 NATIONAL CHAMPION. Proving once more that Yurrugar ETTs are not just pretty faces!
May
Following on from our last post, Ch Yurrugar Final Fantasy whelped her beautiful litter sired by Ch Yurrugar Poetry in Motion. A whopping litter of 8, so even the ultrasound didn't quite find them all! Meeka is doing wonderfully for a first time mother, and as usual, all puppies from this litter were spoken for prior to their arrival. Some of the babies are pictured below.
Dr Nicole Rowley has her first litter of English Toy Terriers due during May from her co-owned champion girl Meeka, Yurrugar Final Fantasy. Sire of this litter is Ch. Yurrugar Poetry in Motion. We are excited to say that ultrasound showed 6-7 babies! Fingers crossed all goes well, this is a very big litter for such a small dog, and for a first time mum. As per all Yurrugar English Toy Terrier litters, these puppies have already been reserved, with Nicole getting first pick for her efforts. Meeka and her brood are in the very best of hands and we wish Nicole all the best during this time. We look forward to seeing the babies when they are ready to travel.
Our latest export is the very beautiful Yurrugar Hearts A Mess. From our exquisite litter sired by Am Ch Oakwood V Ebet's Invincible (imp USA), and from the lovely Moss, Ch Yurrugar Undisclosed Desires, "Pepper" now resides in Singapore with "Toby", Yurrugar Pocket Rocket.

April
New exhibitor Karen Polley has been flying the Yurrugar flag here in Victoria with her very beautiful Yurrugar Armed N Ready. I will proudly admit that I get a bit jealous that I am not on the end of his lead! He is an exceptional little dog. Size, colour and headpiece to die for and not to mention AMAZING temperament! Petra Trapp and her lovely bitch Ch Yurrugar Glory Box have also been in the winners circle up in Brisbane. Congratulations to both owners for promoting their ETTs so wonderfully. We finally made it to a show ourselves on the 24th of April and came away with Best of Breed and Best Intermediate in Group with the beautiful Lexi, Yurrugar Dream Come True.
March
Whilst we have been having a quiet month with no shows so far, the Yurrugar breeding was well represented at Crufts, Bermingham, England. Callie (Yurrugar Curtain Call For Mansiya exported UK) had four offspring competing at Crufts, and all four were placed. Two grandsons who were first and second in the same class, her daughter stood fourth in a large junior bitch class which was won by Callie's granddaughter, who then went on to take best of breed and made the final cut in the group ring. Not a bad day at the office. Callie is the litter sister to resident sire here at Yurrugar, Yurrugar Scene Stealer. Although so far having only had limited opportunity at stud, Stealer is a fundamental part of our team and combines some of the best of our imported bloodlines. He is the sire of the beautiful Flawless Finish and Paparazzi.
February
On Valentine's Day, the gorgeous Miss Moss, Aust Ch Yurrugar Undisclosed Desires, whelped a lovely, healthy litter of 5 to the sensational Nick, Am Ch Oakwood V Ebet's Invincible (imp USA). Mum and babies are doing very well. Our next planned litter is between Aust Ch Yurrugar Keeping Secrets (AI) "Swish" and first time dad, our fantastic boy "Tex", Aust Ch Yurrugar V Lone Star Conquest. Very exciting year ahead.
January
It was lovely to hear the news that Petra Trapp and Ch Yurrugar Glory Box took out Best Exhibit in Group at the Gold Coast Canine Club Championship Show on Saturday the 23rd. Doesn't get much better than that! We spent the day showing our ponies here in Victoria with much success! Exciting day indeed.
There is no rest for the wicked as they say! We attended our first show for 2016, Historic Maldon, on Sunday the 3rd of January. Lexi, YURRUGAR DREAM COME TRUE, has started the year in her true top style by taking out Runner Up to Best in Group.
YURRUGAR #1
We are so proud to report that we finished on top in a number of ways. Firstly, YURRUGAR, was awarded the Top English Toy Terrier Kennel in Australia accolade by Dogzonline (www.dogzonline.com.au). Yurrugar Dream Come True and Yurrugar V Lone Star Conquest took the Top and Runner Up positions in the Dogzonline pointscore for most Best in Show, Runner Up to Best in Show, Best in Group and Runner Up to Best in Group awards. They also both took the top two positions for most Best of Breed wins. Dream Come True, V Lone Star Conquest and Yurrugar Glory Box went 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the English Toy Terrier Rising Star Competition too!
Our 2015 was our biggest and best yet. With Royal Show group placings, speciality show wins and being the top in our breeds, we go into 2016 with lots of high hopes and big dreams. We look forward to seeing what the year holds for all of us involved in TEAM YURRUGAR!
